George Ernest Bates was born in 1940. After high school, he graduated from Moody Bible Institute in 1961 and Millikin University in 1963.
Mr. Bates entered the financial services industry with Investors Diversified Services in May 1963, where he subsequently earned the designation of Financial Correlator. In August 1972, he began offering tax-deferred investments and financial planning to university faculty and staff throughout northern Illinois. In June 1982, Mr. Bates opened Bates Securities, Inc., a general securities broker/dealer firm which is a member of the Financial Industry National Regulatory Authority.
In 1984, Mr. Bates started George E. Bates and Associates, Inc., the "Advisor," which was registered with the Illinois Securities Department to do financial planning. In 1985, he was granted his Certified Financial Planner™ designation and became a member of the Institute of Certified Financial Planners.
As the Registered Principal with Bates Securities, Inc., Mr. Bates may receive commissions for the purchases and/or sales he transacts on behalf of his clients. He may transact securities purchases and sales on behalf of the Advisor's clients, if suitable for such client.
In addition, George E. Bates is a licensed insurance broker and agent conducting business through Bates Financial Services, Inc., a corporation founded in 1992. Mr. Bates receives commissions on the sale of insurance products.
